Rebecca
Gayhart was raised in Pinetop, Kentucky,
not far from Hazard, Kentucky, where she was born, Gayheart is
of Italian, Irish, German
and Cherokee heritage. She moved to New York at age 15 to finish
her high school education after spending a summer there modeling.
She completed high school at New York's Professional Children's
School, then studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Midway through
her second term, she became a cast regular on the daytime drama "Loving."
Her career started in commercials, where
Rebecca Gayheart gained national recognition as the 'Noxzema Girl.',
but for the next few years she
worked steadily in television. Her credits include "Beverly
Hills 90210," the NBC miniseries "Invasion," and the
Amblin series "Earth 2."
Then, in quick succession, she appeared alongside
Gabriel Byrne and Nastassja Kinski in Somebody is Waiting, directed
by Martin Donovan,
the adventure comedy Nothing To Lose with Tim Robbins and Martin
Lawrence and the cult hit Scream 2 with Neve Campbell. Rebecca
Gayheart also appeared in the prequel to From Dusk
Till Dawn, entitled Hangman's Daughter, directed by P.J. Pesce and
produced by Robert Rodriguez
and Quentin Tarantino. Rebecca's other films include Hairshirt starring
Neve Campbell and directed by Dean Paris, Darren Stein's Jawbreaker,
starring Rose McGowan and Julie Benz, Isaac Eaton's film Shadow Hours,
and the upcoming Harvard Man from James Tobak. Rebecca
Gayheart was
cast in FireFly, the upcoming show from Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy,
but after the August 2001 and the trial that followed she 'bowed
out'
